Strake Jesuit is a Catholic, four-year, college preparatory school for young men grades 9-12 located in Houston, Texas. The school’s mission is to assist young men in their formation as leaders and as 'Men for Others' through a program of rigorous college preparation in the tradition of the Society of Jesus. The school seeks to hire and retain employees who are skilled in their field, involved participants in the school community, active in their faith, and enthusiastically dedicated to carrying out the mission of the school. Faculty Openings for 2017-18
A Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate teaching area is required, with a Master’s Degree preferred. In addition to being a full-time member of the teaching faculty, duties include participation in an ongoing teacher formation program, assisting in the daily needs of the school community, and moderating or assisting in at least one extracurricular program offered by the school. If you have applied in previous years, please re-submit an updated resume and cover letter indicating your interest to be considered for the 2016-17 school year. 

 

Director of Student Film and Television Program (SJET Director)
Strake Jesuit is currently seeking qualified applicants for the full-time faculty position of the Strake Jesuit Educational Television (SJET) Director. The SJET Director provides primary leadership for the Strake Jesuit Educational Television network, including a daily morning newscast and other film and television education for students. The Director teaches classes such as TV Production, TV Broadcasting, and other courses as determined by academic degree and experience. The Director supervises a part-time assistant director to manage all aspects of SJET, including the physical studio space, morning show casting and production, training on equipment, story development, and assessing student work. The Director assists in filming school events and producing video clips for archival and distribution purposes. The qualified candidate has at least a bachelor's degree in Filmmaking, Film Production, Digital Media, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred. Experience in the artistry of film-making, videography, or film production are significant assets; classroom teaching experience is also desirable. Athletics
Strake Jesuit is a member of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and competes at the 6A level in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field, and wrestling. Lacrosse competes in the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL), water polo competes in the Texas Interscholastic Coaches Association (TISCA), and rugby competes in the Texas Rugby Union. Jesuit teams compete at the highest level classification in all of the leagues in which it is a member. Candidates should possess outstanding acumen in their sport. Duties include: fostering good sportsmanship and character in student-athletes, supporting a positive coaching atmosphere, providing for the safety and welfare of student athletes, supporting and abiding by the athletic policies and rules of the school and its leagues, and fully supporting a multi-sport athlete program.

Staff Openings

Receptionist
Strake Jesuit is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Receptionist. The Receptionist serves as a warm, welcoming, and helpful first point of contact to both the members of our school community and to our many visitors by greeting and directing visitors, referring them to the appropriate individual or department, and providing general clerical support as needed. This position is a full-time, year round, staff position is available starting July 1, 2017. Candidates must be professional, friendly, flexible, and able to perform well in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while handling several tasks simultaneously. Candidates must be work well with others despite frequent interruptions and possess the ability to communicate with diverse groups while displaying tact and courtesy. Assistant Network Administrator
Strake Jesuit is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Network Administrator. This part-time, temporary (Summer 2016) position reports to the Technology Director and assists with the maintenance and deployment of desktop systems, software and iPads. A+ certification or equivalent and experience supporting Windows 7, Windows 10, Ubuntu, OS-X and iOS is required. Familiarity with SCCM, Kace or similar enterprise tools is preferred. The successful candidate has a sincere desire to learn, possesses a team spirit toward technical support and problem solving and is committed to supporting the educational mission of the school. Part-time Bus Driver
Strake Jesuit is looking for part-time Bus Operators to assist in the transport of students to athletic competitions and other school related functions. Most, but not all trips would occur after 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday, on average three to four trips per week. The successful applicant will have a current Class B commercial driver’s license with a Passenger and School Bus endorsement. Equipment to be operated has an hydraulic breaking system so an air brakes endorsement is not required. Candidates must be in good health and be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening. A set stipend amount will be paid per round trip driven.
