Strake Jesuit is a Catholic, four-year, college preparatory school for young men grades 9-12 located in Houston, Texas. Faculty Openings for 2017-18
A Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate teaching area is required, with a Master’s Degree preferred. An applicant for the Theology position must be a practicing Catholic in good standing and have a bachelor’s or graduate degree in theology from an accredited Catholic college or university.

 

College Counseling Director
The College Counseling Director will lead a team of dedicated and experienced college counselors who aid students and their families in the college transition. Along with the other college counselors, the director will educate families about various colleges and universities, the college admissions process, admissions trends, office procedures, and standardized testing options. Duties include advising and supporting a caseload of students as they proceed through the college process and helping students and families aspire realistically and to choose a college fit wisely. The director will work closely with college representatives and will visit college campuses to establish and maintain strong relationships with college admission staffs. A Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 3-5 years college admissions and/or college counseling experience are required. A master’s degree is preferred. The successful candidate will possess a sophisticated and current understanding of selective college admissions and financial aid. An existing relationship with professional organizations like NACAC, TACAC, and the JHSCCA is preferred. Working knowledge of Naviance, the Common Application, ApplyTexas, and standardized testing programs including ACT, SAT, PSAT, and AP, is also an asset. Director of Pastoral Ministry

Strake Jesuit is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Pastoral Ministry. The Director of Pastoral Ministry provides administrative oversight, guidance, and support to the various pastoral ministry programs of the school including retreats, liturgies, and community service. The Director reports to the Principal and serves as a key member of the school’s Administrative Team. An applicant for this position must be a practicing Catholic in good standing and should have a bachelor’s or graduate degree in theology or pastoral ministry from an accredited Catholic college or university. Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to relate to and work well with others, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong proficiency with computers and technology. Significant experience in campus ministry, retreat work, Ignatian spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius is preferred.

 

Educational Diagnostician and Learning Coach

Strake Jesuit is currently seeking qualified applicants for the faculty position of Educational Diagnostician and Learning Coach. This professional joins Jesuit's Learning Resource Center, which provides study, testing, and coaching support for students with learning differences and their families. The Educational Diagnostician's major responsibilities include providing psychoeducational testing and diagnosis, and creating psychoeducational evaluations for Strake Jesuit students enrolling in the Learning Resource Center. The Diagnostician also assumes a caseload for individualized educational coaching, assists in maintaining LRC records, filing timely requests for testing accommodations on standardized tests, and administering exams for LRC students. The qualified candidate is a licensed or certified professional with the skillset and authority to fulfill these responsibilities. Aptitude in communication, self-efficacy, and recordkeeping are essential. Competitive applicants have the strong desire, ability, and qualifications to also work in areas of the school outside of the LRC such as classroom teaching and moderating, directing, or coaching extracurricular programs. Depending on the qualifications and availability of the applicant and the needs of the school, this position may accommodate a full-time or part-time position. Athletics
Strake Jesuit is a member of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and competes at the 6A level in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field, and wrestling. Lacrosse competes in the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL), water polo competes in the Texas Interscholastic Coaches Association (TISCA), and rugby competes in the Texas Rugby Union. Jesuit teams compete at the highest level classification in all of the leagues in which it is a member. Candidates should possess outstanding acumen in their sport. Duties include: fostering good sportsmanship and character in student-athletes, supporting a positive coaching atmosphere, providing for the safety and welfare of student athletes, supporting and abiding by the athletic policies and rules of the school and its leagues, and fully supporting a multi-sport athlete program.


Athletic Trainer

The Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, provide coverage of team practices and games, and assist with supervision of student athletic trainers. Must be able to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Applicants should possess a Texas Athletic Trainer license, BOC preferred. A bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or in a Health Science or related field is required. A Masters’ degree is preferred. Current CPR/AED/First Aid also required.

  

Head Football Coach

Strake Jesuit is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Head Football Coach. The Head Football Coach will be a full time member of the teaching faculty who will also provide leadership to our University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A football program, in addition to other coaching duties to be determined. Additional duties include: fostering good sportsmanship and character in student-athletes, supporting a positive coaching atmosphere, providing for the safety and welfare of student athletes, supporting and abiding by the athletic policies and rules of the school and the UIL, managing the program budget, supervising activities, and fully supporting a multi-sport athlete program. A Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate teaching area is required, with a Master’s Degree preferred. A working knowledge of the Society of Jesus and Jesuit education is preferred. Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to relate to and work well with others, possess excellent writing, speaking and communication skills, and have a strong proficiency with computers and technology. Director of Advancement
The Director of Advancement is a full-time, 12-month administrative position reporting directly to the President of the school. The Director is responsible for all fundraising, development, alumni, and communication activities. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build Strake Jesuit’s visibility, impact, and financial resources in support of our mission to form young men in the Jesuit tradition. The Director of Advancement will have primary responsibilities to lead a team of development professionals in the growth of our development goals through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, planned giving and corporate and foundation support. S/he will expand and diversify Strake Jesuit’s donor base and work closely with other administrative team members to understand the needs of the school and secure support for new initiatives. In addition the Director of Advancement will work closely with the board of directors and support board members as they engage in active advancement roles. Start date is negotiable. Salary is commensurate with experience and level of success in the institutional advancement area.

Assistant Network Administrator
Strake Jesuit is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Network Administrator. This part-time, temporary (Summer 2016) position reports to the Technology Director and assists with the maintenance and deployment of desktop systems, software and iPads. A+ certification or equivalent and experience supporting Windows 7, Windows 10, Ubuntu, OS-X and iOS is required. Familiarity with SCCM, Kace or similar enterprise tools is preferred. The successful candidate has a sincere desire to learn, possesses a team spirit toward technical support and problem solving and is committed to supporting the educational mission of the school. Part-time Bus Driver
Strake Jesuit is looking for part-time Bus Operators to assist in the transport of students to athletic competitions and other school related functions. Most, but not all trips would occur after 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday, on average three to four trips per week. The successful applicant will have a current Class B commercial driver’s license with a Passenger and School Bus endorsement. Equipment to be operated has an hydraulic breaking system so an air brakes endorsement is not required. Candidates must be in good health and be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening. A set stipend amount will be paid per round trip driven.
