Spiritual Life: In All Things to Love and to Serve, for the Greater Glory Of God
Strake Jesuit College Preparatory is grounded in the conviction of St. Ignatius Loyola that God is to be found in all things. All activities of the school, from biology to band, from football to forensics, have this objective: to find God in all of God's wondrous creation.
Strake Jesuit believes that yearning and longing for union with one's Creator is at the core of every person's being. Our community strives to aide all our students, regardless of faith, race and denomination, in their pursuit of God. We also offer to all, the revelation, tradition, and spiritual services of our Catholic tradition, which is the foundation of our own faith.
The mission of the Department of Pastoral Ministry is to support the Strake Jesuit community in its work of finding God in all things. To this end, Pastoral Ministry serves the community through liturgies, retreats, service to the poor and disenfranchised, pastoral counseling, Christian support organizations, and faculty/staff spiritual formation. With the inspiration of St. Ignatius of Loyola, we do all for the Greater Glory of God.
Varia - We strongly encourage students to initiate new ways of enriching the faith life of our community. The Pastoral Department coordinates various other devotions, activities, and religious organizations such as Cross Check, Youth for Christ, Emmaus Gatherings, and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
"We do not ask the young people to abandon their uncerntainties, questions or criticisms. Rather we ask all those who call themselves Christians to allow themselves to be guided by grace to encounter Christ in the Church, through the sacraments, prayer and the reception of the Word." - John Paul II
