Endowments
From the time of St. Ignatius, providing access to education has been a hallmark of Jesuit schools. His commitment to opening the door to education for all continues to inspire us as we too seek to provide increased opportunities for access to a Jesuit education and the promise it holds.
For over 50 years, Strake Jesuit has been developing young men to be Open to Growth, Intellectually Competent, Religious, Loving, and Committed to Doing Justice.
However, only through established endowments will Jesuit be able to continue to offer bright and talented young men from across the economic spectrum the chance to enrich us with their diversity and to excel academically.
What is an endowed scholarship?
Once established, an endowment provides financial assistance to one or more students each year in perpetuity. Typical endowment awards are in the area of financial need. They are made to qualified students according to a simple fund agreement between the donor and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. An endowment gift is invested along with the schools other endowment funds in accordance with the school's investment policy. A portion of the annual earnings is made available for financial assistance and the balance is returned to the principal to ensure its future growth. An endowment at Strake Jesuit can started with $10,000 and is fully funded at $300,000.
How will students benefit from my gift?
As the principal continues to grow, so does the amount available to be awarded to students. Depending on the amount of the endowment, the earnings may cover a portion or all of the tuition. We also consider it a benefit that recipients have the opportunity to experience philanthropy first hand, and we encourage them to thank their donor, in writing or many times in person, for the opportunity to attend Strake Jesuit.
