Tuition for the 2013-2014 school year is $16,800 which is approximately $1,800 less than the actual cost of providing a Jesuit education. Text books cost approximately $500 depending on how many of the books can be purchased second hand. Tuition is payable annually, by semester, or monthly (over a ten month period through low interest bank loans - CLICK HERE to access the loan application). Need-based financial aid is also available. Ignatian Scholar Award
The Ignatian Scholar Award is given to the top five incoming freshmen as determined by their entrance exam scores, overall academic record,
and the quality of their application for admission to Strake Jesuit. The award is equal to 50% of the first year’s tuition. Recipients are notified in late April, after they have registered as incoming freshmen. To be considered for the award, applicants must (1) take the January entrance examination and (2) have a completed application on file by the application deadline.
Strake Jesuit makes every attempt to support students who need financial aid. For the 2012-13 school year, approximately 13% of the student body received financial aid totaling approximately $1.1 million. All applicants are notified of financial aid awarded when they receive their acceptance letter in March.
Strake Jesuit has contracted with FAIR (Financial Aid Independent Review) to process all financial aid applications and provide an objective evaluation of each family's financial need. FAIR is a nationally recognized leader in financial need evaluation services for Catholic and private schools. You may apply for financial aid through the FAIR service by regular mail or online.
Apply by Mail
The financial aid application, instructions, and mailing envelopes can be requested from the Strake Jesuit Financial Aid Office by phone at 713.448.8430 or by e-mail. Because the official application form must be used, the application is not available for download. Completed applications should be mailed directly to the FAIR service by the postmark deadline of Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Please include any necessary documentation along with a $30 check made payable to FAIR in the envelope provided.
Apply Online (available December 1st)
To submit your application to the FAIR service online, go to www.fairapp.com and click on the "On-line Application" link. You can then create a user account using your e-mail address and a password that you select. Once you have created a user account and signed in you will be able to complete the FAIR application online. During the application process you will need the following:
1. The Strake Jesuit School Code: 109
2. The Strake Jesuit School Password: sjcp109
3. A valid e-mail address
4. A credit card (Visa or MasterCard) to complete payment processing
5. A complete copy of your Federal Income Tax Return with all schedules and W-2's from the previous year
