Application & Overview

Admissions Overview
Strake Jesuit is a Catholic, private, all boys, college preparatory school for young men grades 9 to 12 that develops leaders in a spiritual, Christ-centered atmosphere distinguished by academic success, extracurricular achievement and service to others. Based on the inspiration of St. Ignatius, the founder of the Jesuits over 450 years ago, the goal of a Jesuit education is for each student to realize that he is called to be open to growth, intellectually competent, loving, religious, committed to doing justice and a Man for Others.

Applicants should be academically prepared, willing to perform dedicated and consistent academic work outside of class every day, and be receptive to the various religious formation programs which are essential to the school's total program.

Fall Semester (August - December)
The Admissions year begins in the Fall Semester (August - December) with a variety of optional programs offered to interested applicants. Our shadowing program (Crusader for a Day) is available through the end of the semester. These programs are available to 8th grade students by appointment. The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) is offered at Jesuit in mid-November. Our yearly Open House is the last week of November.

Spring Semester (January - May)
Mid-January marks the application deadline for incoming freshmen, followed by the High School Placement Test (HSPT) entrance exam in late January. In mid-March, incoming freshmen will receive decision letters and financial aid notifications. The Crusader for a Day shadowing program resumes after Spring Break. In early April, admitted freshmen complete the registration process. More detailed information about the entrance exam, important dates, Open House, tuition and financial aid is available in the Admissions drop down menu to the left.

Teacher Recommendation Forms and Record Release Form
Strake Jesuit asks that all applicants submit teacher recommendation forms from their current English teacher, Math teacher, and Principal/Counselor. Students should give the forms to their teachers, who will complete the forms and then send them directly to the Strake Jesuit Admissions Office. Strake Jesuit accepts either the Catholic High Schools recommendation forms or the Houston Area Independent Schools (HAIS) recommendation forms, and both sets of forms are available below. If your son plans to apply to multiple private high schools, please consult with those schools to determine which recommendation forms they require.

Contact the Admissions Office at 713.490.8113 or admissions@strakejesuit.org with questions or for more information.
