Welcome to the 2020-2021 Alumni Service Corps

Each year, Strake Jesuit welcomes back a group of alumni, just out of college, who dedicate a year of service in the Alumni Service Corps (ASC). They live in one of the houses currently being used by the Jesuit community on the southeast corner of campus, observe a class taught by their faculty mentor, teach one class, work on retreats and service projects, and are involved in any number of possible athletic and extra-curricular activities. This year, we welcome back Eddie George ’16, Kevin Murphy ’15, and Cooper Viancos ’16.

Eddie George ’16 graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in International Business and Marketing. He is teaching Business Computing and will also assist coaching tennis, work with the IT Department, the Advancement Office, and the Pastoral Ministry Center. Due to the pandemic, we have started the year remote learning, but Eddie is looking forward to getting the students back on campus. He attributes so much of who he is today to Strake Jesuit, and giving back to the community for a year is the least he could do.

 

Kevin Murphy ’15 graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in General Studies on the Pre-Medical track with an emphasis in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology. He is teaching Biology 1 and will assist coaching football and lacrosse. What Kevin is most looking forward to during his time in the ASC is getting to see the light go off in his students’ heads as they understand a new concept – whether it is in class, on the field, or on a retreat. He is blessed to have a chance to give back to the school and community, as well as get an extra year of learning from his former teachers and colleagues.

 

Cooper Viancos ’16 graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Finance and a minor in Real Estate. He is teaching Personal Finance and will be involved with the band and tennis programs. This year is unlike any other year, but in true Strake Jesuit fashion, Cooper is being open to growth and is excited to learn how to teach and interact with his students in a virtual and socially distanced setting. For Cooper, being a part of Strake Jesuit means embodying what it means to be a Man for Others. There is no better feeling than reinvesting his time into the school that provided him with four years of excellent Jesuit education.
