Strake Jesuit Students Awarded with Academic Honors from College Board National Recognition Programs

89 Strake Jesuit students were among 32,000 students nationally whom have earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. These National Recognition Programs grant students with academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country, helping them meaningfully connect to colleges and stand out during the admissions process. Colleges and scholarship programs identify students awarded National African American, Hispanic, Indigenous and/or Rural/Small Town Recognition through College Board’s Student Search Service.

Christopher DeMoor attributes his success to setting aside time each week to review practice tests and strengthen subject areas that he felt needed the most improvement.  Mason Abrell attribues his recognition as a National Merit Semifinalist to “many people and things, but mainly to the supportive community, including my teachers and parents, as well as the willingness to put in the effort, both in school and through the Ray Dass Merit program to put me in a position to succeed.”

“Jesuit students have always excelled on college entrance testing, but this year’s has shown themselves to be uniquely talented, doubling the typical number of students recognized for excellent PSAT scores. This diverse group includes sophomores and juniors from dozens of zip codes around the Houston area, and students from every Jesuit cohort — House System leaders, team captains and extraordinary athletes, actors, debaters, club presidents, and more.
