Spectrum 3847 Wins Gold Medal at Dripping Springs

Houston, TX, March 7, 2022 - - Spectrum, under the direction of Head Coach/Mentor Allen Gregory IV, traveled to Dripping Springs to open the FRC season and won the title of 2022 Winner FRC First in Texas District  - Dripping Springs Event. 

“We are grateful to return to in person competitions after a two-year pandemic hiatus. To help other FRC teams compete and perform at their best, Spectrum is committed to training and sharing our resources so that everyone is having a good time” said Spectrum Head Coach/Mentor Allen Gregory IV.

“Our goal is to foster the development of our student members into extraordinary people who are able to use their ingenuity, generosity, and enthusiasm to help others.” 

The team earned the Quality Award Winner for the robot’s machine robustness in concept and fabrication. Also, mentor Suanne Bouvier was nominated for the Woodie Flowers Award that recognizes an individual who has done an outstanding job of motivation through communication while also challenging the students to be clear and succinct in their communications.

Spectrum competed against 30 other teams from across Texas in the new game FIRST® Rapid React.

Spectrum was ranked second with an overall record of 16-2-0 and earned the second seed. 

First seed Valor 6800 invited Spectrum 3847 and Smithville Tiger Bots 5503 to join the #1 alliance. They won their playoff matches with a record of 6-0-0 crowning them the Winner of the 2022 Winner FRC FIRST In Texas District  - Dripping Springs event.

  • Thursday, March 24 to Saturday, March 26, 2022: FIRST in Texas District  - Pasadena Event
More than 3,600 high school teams worldwide will participate in the FIRST® Robotics Competition this year. FIRST® Rapid React has high school robotics team students around the world eager to capture a championship. After the game was revealed back in January, students have been brain-storming and drawing up designs for robots that will compete at several events this season. Teams had about 6 weeks to build their robots and now the competition season is underway.
