The Ignatian Examen has often been called the most postmodern of prayers. Of all his prayers exercises, Ignatius was passionate about the Examen. He practiced it regularly and asked that his Jesuit companions pray it twice a day. The Ignatian Examen helps us to examine our consciousness and to recognize what God is doing to us and with us in our daily living. Many spiritual directors suggest that praying the Ignatian Examen is like praying backwards through our day.
Each school day at Strake Jesuit, at the beginning of 7th period (2:05 PM on Regular Order days) the entire campus stops and this audio plays to lead everyone through the Examen. There are six different Examen prayers used, each corresponding to the school's six day schedule. Each prayer focuses on one of the Grad-at-Grad themes.
