The Ignatian Examen has often been called the most postmodern of prayers. Of all his prayers exercises, Ignatius was passionate about the Examen. He practiced it regularly and asked that his Jesuit companions pray it twice a day. Many spiritual directors suggest that praying the Ignatian Examen is like praying backwards through our day. Each school day at Strake Jesuit, at the beginning of 5th period (1:55 PM on Regular Order days) the entire campus stops to pray. The Ignatian Examen helps us to examine our consciousness and to recognize what God is doing to us and with us in our daily living.
