Scholarship information on this page is divided into two lists, alphabetically by College and by General Scholarship, if not connected with a particular school. This information is intended for Strake Jesuit students and their parents, and is a static account of programs we have seen students work with in the past. Your best resource for updated scholarship advice is always your College Counselor, and you should always contact the University/College for the most accurate and updated scholarship and financial aid information.

December 1st,  is the Freshmen Scholarship priority deadline. Students who submit all admission materials postmarked by December 1st and have the minimum test score and/or high school GPA required receive automatic consideration for Freshmen and General Scholarships.  A separate application is not required.  

 

Babson College: Weissman Scholars Program:
Babson College is a top ranked, small, private business college with a top ranked entrepreneurship program. The Weissman Scholars program is a full-tuition, four-year scholarship that is worth more than $170,000 plus additional benefits. Please apply at www.weissmanscholars.org as soon as possible.

 

Baylor University:
Baylor University offers scholarships to students exhibiting excellence in academics, leadership, extracurricular activities, and athletics.  Go to https://www.baylor.edu/admissions/index.php?id=872109 to find out more about the various scholarship opportunities.

 

Boston College:
Boston College Presidential Scholars is a comprehensive, full-tuition scholarship program guaranteed to meet full need for 4 years.  The scholarship is granted to 15 incoming freshmen.  Candidates must apply on-line by the Early Action deadline of November 1st. Boston University - Trustee Scholarship:
The Boston University Trustee Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship. 20 scholarships are granted each year.  Those considered for the Trustee Scholarship have a 4.0 GPA, rank in the top 5-10% of their class and demonstrate exceptional records of service, leadership, and activity in their schools and communities. Creighton University:
Creighton University is one of the finest Jesuit, Catholic universities in the U.S. Apply online at  The application serves as an Application for Admission, as well as for most of the Academic Merit, and Service and Leadership Scholarships. Jesuit high school students with a 3.0 are eligible for the Jesuit High School Recognition award of $1000, renewable each year. 

 

Davidson College - Bryan Scholarship:
Academically strong Senior Athletes interested in competing on Davidson’s NCAA Div. I sport teams need to see their college counselor as soon as possible.  The Lowell Bryan Scholarship program offers awards, each valued at $30,000 annually, to two scholar-athletes (one woman and one man) in each entering class.

Candidates are chosen on the basis of: 
• academic and personal excellence,  
• strong promise of significant impact in their classes and in their lives on campus,
• potential for significant success in one of the following Davidson’s NCAA Division I athletic programs - golf, wrestling, baseball, cross country, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field (football, and men’s and women’s basketball are not eligible).

Davidson College: Belk Scholarship
Jesuit may nominate one senior for the John Montgomery Belk Scholarship at Davidson College. To be considered for this nomination, seniors should contact their college counselor as soon as possible.

The John Montgomery Belk Scholarship is Davidson’s most prestigious merit-based program.  Covering the comprehensive costs of attending Davidson (room, board, tuition and fees), the Belk Scholarship is valued at over $49,000.

Emory University:
Academically strong seniors interested in Emory University in Atlanta may be considered for merit-based scholarships at Emory University. you must apply by the Emory University Scholar Programs deadline and select an admission plan of Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision.  For more information, visit https://apply.emory.edu/apply/plans.php.

 

Fairfield University:
Fairfield University is our Jesuit college in Connecticut.  Merit scholarships are awarded in the amount of The $9,000 - $25,000.  The Magis Scholarship if for students that have excelled academically.  The scholarship provides an annual grant of $25,000,  renewable for four years if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA. University of Houston - Bauer Excellence Scholarships (BES)
Bauer Excellence Scholarships (BES) are four-year, undergraduate-level, renewable scholarships of up to $10,000 per academic year offered in conjunction with UH's Academic Excellence Scholarship Program. These scholarships are available to incoming "first-time-in-college" freshmen who qualify/meet specific criteria. 

Scholarship Criteria -  
• Apply and be admitted into UH and the C. T. Bauer College of Business
• Have a Critical Reading + Math SAT score of 1400 or above, or 32 ACT Composite score
• Be ranked in the top 15% of their high school class (or individual application review if school does not rank its students)

No separate application is required. Qualified students who apply to UH-Main Campus and select “business” as their major of choice via www.applytexas.org will be considered for the BES if they are admitted into the C. T. Bauer College of Business.

Terry Scholarship:  The Honors College at the University of Houston
The Terry Foundation Scholarship is for graduates of Texas high schools who demonstrate scholastic achievement, leadership ability and financial need.

The Terry Foundation scholarship offers an up-to-full ride scholarship for the students who receive it each year. Students nominated to the Foundation possessed an average SAT of 1263 (combined math and critical reading) and were ranked in the top 10% of their graduating classes. Ninety percent of the students nominated attended public high schools and were entering the University in majors ranging from the humanities and business to science, engineering and architecture.

University of Kansas:
Out-of-state students enliven the Jayhawk family.   All out-of-state residents who meet the criteria listed below and apply by Nov. 1 receive the scholarship. There are no separate applications for these scholarships.

North Carolina State: Park Scholarship:
Jesuit can nominate two outstanding seniors for the NC State Park Scholarship, which is one of the most prestigious scholarships in the nation.  Selection is based on scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The four year award is valued at $166,000 for out of state students and includes: tuition, fees, books, personal expenses, a personal computer, educational trips, grants for research, and international projects.

SMU: Hunt Leadership Scholarship Program:
Seniors interested in the Hunt Leadership Scholarship Program at SMU need to apply to SMU as soon as possible, as well as complete the Hunt Essay. For more information, please go to www.smu.edu/hunt  before January 1st.

 

St. Edward’s University: Trustees & Holy Cross Scholar Award:
The Guaranteed Trustees Scholar Award is worth $10,000 per year for four years. The admission application must be completed by Jan. 1st to be considered.

The Holy Cross Scholar Award is a Full Tuition scholarship for four years. An additional application is required and all scholarship information can be found at www.gotostedwards.com/meritawards.xml  .

 

TCU: Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards:
The Neeley School of Business at TCU is offering the TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.  For more information and to complete the application, go to www.tcuyeya.org  by November 1st.

 

University of Nebraska-Lincoln:
The Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science & Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln offers a 4-Year Room & Board Scholarship.  This selective academic honors program provides an education balanced in computer science and management, while developing professional skills in leadership, communication, and collaboration. Additional information about this program can be found at http://raikes.unl.edu  .  Students must complete the University of Nebraska-Lincoln application online (www.admissions.unl.edu/apply ) then apply to the Raikes School (http://myred.nebraska.edu ) before November 15th. 
 


University of Southern California:
All applicants must complete the Common Application and the USC supplement.  
www.commonapp.org  December 1st is the application deadline for scholarship consideration.
 


University of Texas-Dallas:
The McDermott Scholars Program is known as the most flexible program of its kind in the nation with a value of more than $125,000, over the course of four years of a student’s undergraduate education.  The online application is available at the following link: http://www.utdallas.edu/mcdermott.  Please email mcdermott@utdallas.edu  with any questions. 

Interested Seniors with a 4.0 or higher should review the information online and then contact their specific college counselor.  The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program covers all expenses of a four-year academic education at UT Dallas, in concert with a diverse array of intensive extracurricular activities.   https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=utd-msp

 

Wake Forest University:
The Department of Physics at Wake Forest University has the Randall Ledford Scholarship. This four-year half-tuition scholarship is worth over $74,000.  You must apply at www.wfu.edu/admissions/  by January 1st, as well as provide one letter of recommendation from a science teacher and a brief letter describing your interest in the scholarship.

 

Washington University in St. Louis:
Seniors applying to Washington University in St. Louis that would like to be considered for the Danforth Scholars Program, must submit your name for nomination to your College Counselor no later than October 1st.
Seniors that apply should demonstrate superior grades and GPA, as well as maturity, strong moral character, selflessness, and commitment to the community.

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program:
Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with our scholarship program for the 4th year.  We will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year.  Students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of our web site:   http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm  

 

AES Engineering Scholarship:

Let us know how you plan to be a "champion" in your chosen field in order to help your community. The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s The Power of Life Scholarship:
The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s The Power of Life scholarship program will award eleven local area high school students a $2,000 scholarship. Herrman & Herrman Scholarship:

Hispanic College Fund:

Morris King & Hodge Driver Safety Scholarship Fund:

National Commission for Cooperative Education:
The NCCE colleges award 170 merit co-op scholarships of $6,000 each, which are renewable. The student must apply and get into one of the 8 NCCE colleges. For more information and to apply online, go to their website at www.co-op.edu  .

 

Proud Texan Scholarship:
The scholarship is open to high school seniors and students enrolled in colleges across Texas.
