Strake Jesuit Valedictorian & Salutatorian 2021

It is with great pleasure that we congratulate Jonathan Makhoul as the valedictorian and Trey Fischbach as the salutatorian for the Class of 2021!

Jonathan Makhoul spent his Jesuit career as a campus leader – Student Council Vice President, Kairos Retreat leader, two-time Freshman Retreat leader, Medical Club President, Crusader Guardsman for our mascot, and Crusader Crew leader at orientation. He was also a member of our top-ranked Quiz Bowl team. Being a part of campus life helped him grow as a leader and a Man for Others. He enjoys giving back to his community by volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. Jonathan will attend Rice University, where he plans to study bioengineering, but he also has an interest in astrophysics and neuroscience. He hopes to attend medical school and become a trauma surgeon.

Trey Fischbach enjoys integrating his Catholic faith with his interests in science and mathematics. He was a member of the Quantum Physics Club, started the Astronomy Club in his junior year, and revitalized the Programming Club with one of his classmates in his senior year. In addition to the science-based clubs, he was a member of the Sodality of Our Lady and the Frassati Society. Trey is a three-time varsity swimmer and participated in club swimming, where he served as a team captain for both. He was a Kairos Retreat leader, an altar server for school masses, and helped with several Jesuit swim meets as well as his club team. Trey will attend Rice University, where he plans to study physics and mathematics. He hopes that he will continue to pursue his interest in the sciences while staying strong in his Catholic faith.
