Hall of Honor
The Strake Jesuit Athletics Hall of Honor recognizes and celebrates the athletes, coaches, individuals, and teams whose significant contributions have shaped and elevated our athletic legacy. Please join us on November 1, 2025, for Strake Jesuit's Night of Honor to celebrate the induction of our Athletic Hall of Honor and honor our Ignatian Award winner.
Cocktails will be served at 6:00 PM, followed by dinner and an awards presentation at 7:00 PM in Moran Dining Hall.

New Class Elected to Strake Jesuit Athletic Hall of Honor
Four individual athletes and one team will join the previous inductees of the Strake Jesuit Athletic Hall of Honor as members of this year’s induction class. Entering the Hall of Strake Jesuit’s most accomplished athletes throughout the years are Jeff Harrell ’80, Jack Hornberger ’03, The 2000 Baseball Team, Frank Lara ’13, and Bob Horn

Jeff Harrell ’80 was the place kicker and kickoff specialist for the Strake Jesuit Crusaders football team from 1979 to 1980. He also played forward on the Strake Jesuit soccer team, which compiled an impressive 60-0-1 record and was featured in Parade Magazine. Jeff was an all-state soccer player and a four-year letterman.
After Strake Jesuit, he went on to kick for the SMU Mustangs, where he set and still holds Southwest Conference records for kickoffs, PATs attempted and made, and field goals attempted and made, ranking among the top scorers in SWC history.

Jack Hornberger ’03 was a two-time all-state selection in water polo and a two-time All-American, earning first-team All-America honors as a senior. He led Strake Jesuit to a state championship.
After Jesuit, Jack played four years of varsity water polo at NCAA Division I George Washington University. He was team MVP in 2005 and 2006, earned CWPA Southern Division first-team honors in 2006 and second-team honors in 2005, and was named to the CWPA Scholar Athlete team and ACWPC All-Academic team in both 2005 and 2006.
After Jesuit, Jack played four years of varsity water polo at NCAA Division I George Washington University. He was team MVP in 2005 and 2006, earned CWPA Southern Division first-team honors in 2006 and second-team honors in 2005, and was named to the CWPA Scholar Athlete team and ACWPC All-Academic team in both 2005 and 2006.
The 2000 Baseball Team was the TCIL State Champions, boasting an impressive lineup where seven of nine regular starters hit over .300. The team earned six players on the 1st Team TCIL All-State roster, with three more receiving honorable mention. Notably, they defeated the then No. 1-ranked team in the country, Bellaire High School, 6-4 in the Ewell Jackson tournament. After starting the season with a 10-9-1 record, the team finished strong, winning 14 of their last 15 games to close the season at 24-10-1.
Bob Horn taught and coached water polo and swimming at Strake Jesuit from 1982 to 2015.
Frank Lara ’14 helped Strake Jesuit win four consecutive district cross country championships. He won the state individual cross country championship as a senior and was honored as a Footlocker Nationals finalist as well as a Nike Cross Nationals individual qualifier. Frank recorded a personal best of 14:52 in the cross country 5K and was part of the 4x1600m relay team that set a school record of 17:57. He was named the Texas Gatorade Boys’ Cross Country Runner of the Year.
After graduating from Jesuit, Frank was named to the Southern Conference (SoCon) All-Freshman Team and the All-Southern Conference First Team for cross country after placing sixth with a time of 24:25.05 at the SoCon Cross Country Championships. During his senior year, Frank set a new Paladin record in the indoor 5,000m at the Iowa State Classic and won titles in both the 3,000m and 5,000m at the league’s indoor meet. He was also named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for cross country and track and field, as well as to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
