Vocal Performance

Mixed Chorus

Mixed Chorus is composed of both Strake Jesuit and St. Agnes students from grades 9-12. Selected by audition in April of the previous school year, chorus members meet daily, Monday through Friday from 7:10 to 7:50 a.m at St. Agnes Academy. Chorus members learn basic breathing, vocal focus and basic music theory. All members learn to sight read and are exposed to a variety of vocal styles, from Renaissance to Broadway. Every student is evaluated at least once a year by a required individual jury, during which they perform chorus music in front of the music faculty. All students have the opportunity to perform at least three times a year, to audition for All State chorus, and to participate in the annual Chorus Tour. Uniforms are required. SAA/SJ Mixed Chorus continues to have more students selected into the Texas Private School Music Educator's Association State Choir than any other private school in Texas. Mixed Chorus members receive art elective credit.

Triple Trio

The Triple Trio is the select vocal ensemble at Strake Jesuit, comprised of nine vocalists. The Strake Jesuit Triple Trio and St. Agnes Girls Triple Trio are called the Double Triple Trio and consist of nine ladies and nine men, respectively. Enrollment into this group is by audition only and is open to students in grades 10-12 in both schools. Trio members take a class in which a grade is earned. One of the group's many professional performances include three weekends at the Texas Renaissance Festival.
