Debate
The debate team members are among the highest academic achievers at Strake Jesuit. Nearly all of the SJ Debaters have been selected for the National Honor Society.
The majority of the SJ debaters have earned the Strake Jesuit Honor Roll and the Principal’s Honor Roll, and have earned 2nd Highest Honors. Several debaters have also been awarded with the Highest Honors for Academic Excellence. An example of academic excellence occurred in 2023 where 9 of the top 15 were on the debate team.
SJ Debaters are members of the Key Club, Symphonic Orchestra, SJ Band, Young Democrats, Young Republicans, Stats Club, Crusader Crew, and the Magis newspaper, as well as numerous other sports and activities.

Strake Jesuit Debate
Strake Jesuit has one of the most successful high school debate programs in the United States. In recent years Jesuit debaters have won numerous invitational tournaments including, Harvard, the Barkley Forum at Emory University, the University of Texas Longhorn Classic, Greenhill, Glenbrooks, and numerous other prestigious invitationals. Additionally, Jesuit debaters won the Texas Forensic Association (TFA) tournament in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. TFA is the largest and most competitive state championship tournament in the country. Additionally, Zion Dixon '22 won the prestigious Tournament of Champions (TOC) in 2021. The TOC is widely recognized as the most prestigious nationwide championship tournament in the country.

The Strake Jesuit Parent Debate Club provides support to our SJ Debate Team. SJ Debate is a unique extra-curricular activity. The team has no "off-season" — the boys meet, practice, and have tournaments nearly every month of the school year. Most weekends the boys and their coaches are debating locally and/or at an out-of-town venue.
Your membership donations help our excellent coaches provide the best possible experience for our debaters. Most of our dues provide meals when debating in person, incidental team expenses and supplies when needed, items for the Strake Tournament, Spring Banquet, and year end coaches gifts.
