Seven Churches Pilgrimage

Journey physically and spiritually into the beginning of the Easter Triduum - meet Christ in the Paschal Mystery of cross, death, and resurrection.

This traditional Holy Thursday devotion, credited to St. Philip Neri, grew out of the desire of the faithful for keeping vigil and “watching.” For centuries, Catholics in many parts of the world have been visiting seven churches in their diocese on Holy Thursday after the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. This pilgrimage practice originated in Rome, where the faithful visited the seven Roman basilicas, saying prayers and “watching” in adoration at each. The pilgrimage to each church corresponds to seven “stops” or “stations” of the Via Crucis that were made by Jesus on his way to Calvary.

Journey to pray and reflect at seven churches in the Houston area.
We will be taking to pray with entering into Ignatian contemplation and pray in silence with the Blessed Sacrament in each of the stops.

When: Holy Thursday

Time: 8:30pm - ~12:30am. (Optional 'breakfast' afterwards).
"To Holy Thursday also belongs the dark night of the Mount of Olives, to which Jesus goes with his disciples; the solitude and abandonment of Jesus, who in prayer goes forth to encounter the darkness of death... Let us try at this hour to understand more deeply something of these events, for in them the mystery of our redemption takes place.”
- Pope Benedict XVI
