John William Bates V ’99 Named Head of School of St. Pius X High School

St. Pius X High School in Houston, TX, is getting a new Head of School. 

The Dominican co-ed private school announced that John William Bates V will be Head of School starting this July, following a national search process. 

John has spent more than 17 years in Catholic education, serving in many roles. Most recently, he was the principal at Assumption Catholic School in Houston. John has also served as an assistant principal at St. Michael Catholic School and a teacher at his alma mater, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. 

John has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Education in Catholic (Private School) Teaching from the University of St. Thomas. 

Upon being appointed, John shared "I am honored to be selected as the next Head of School for the St. Pius X High School community. I am committed to bearing faithful witness to the Mission and Traditions established by the Dominican Sisters of Houston. I look forward to building relationships with those dedicated to the Mission of forming Veritas men and women."
