Varsity XC Finishes 10th at UIL State Meet

Varsity XC finished their season placing 10th as a team at the UIL State Meet on Friday, led by 8th place individual Reese Vannerson. While the team battled sickness and the result wasn't everything we could have hoped for, the boys have a lot to be proud of. This year was our first Region 3 championship since 2013 and our first all-state (top 10) individual since 2014. A tight-knit group of seniors worked very hard for 4 years and left a hugely positive impression on the program. They truly lived the team motto "Harambee". Run together for the greater glory of God! We also have an exciting group coming back, including junior Jackson Jamison, who showed incredible grittiness and leadership all season, junior Andrew Buettgen, who ran his best race of the season when it counted, and Evan Fry, who stepped up big-time as a sophomore and has a very bright future. A host of other current JV and freshman runners could be added to this list and will contribute next year. Give these guys a hand, they were a joy to coach.
