Eleven Strake Jesuit Students Sign National Letter of Intent

On February 2, 2022, the Strake Jesuit community honored eleven of its student athletes for continuing their academic and athletic careers at the next level. Members from the Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer, and Water Polo teams along with family and friends gathered in the Competition Gym during Community Time to celebrate the young men for their commitment.

“It’s a proud day for the athletic department,” says Strake Jesuit Director of Athletics Mike Crowley. “It’s the culmination of a lot of hard work by the athlete and the coaches and it’s a great opportunity to recognize them especially with their teammates present.

Senior Football Wide Receiver Will Taylor II will be joining Jesuit alums Michael Jewett ‘18 and  Caleb Crawford ‘19 at Trinity University in San Antonio in the Fall. “Going to Trinity University is pretty cool since Strake Jesuit is like a feeder into Trinity, so being a part of that would be amazing. Being able to play with Caleb and Michael will be great, especially having that camaraderie and brotherhood going into the school.”

“Aaron’s a high character kid, took care of his grades in the classroom, and took the process very seriously,” says Head Basketball coach Dominic Amorosa. “He went from being a starter as a sophomore on a 10 and 22 team to a senior captain. His growth and maturation over the last three years of his career has been exponential. He’s a great teammate and big things are coming for him as he gets older with the Case Western program.” Aaron will be joining Jesuit alum Luke Thorburn ‘20 at Case Western University.

These young men join the ranks of Strake Jesuit student athletes who have come before them to represent themselves and their school at the collegiate level. Each of these men should be commended for their hard work and dedication to their school, sport, and academics.

A replay of the livestreamed ceremony can be found on the SJET YouTube channel here. A list of all of the athletes honored and the universities that they will be attending is below.
