COVID-19 UPDATES!

3/26/2020:

I spoke on the phone today with someone from ACT, to once again offer Strake Jesuit as a testing center for both the June and the July ACT.  They anticipate having Strake Jesuit listed as a test center for the June 13 and July 18 exams sometime next week.  I will let our community know once the listing goes "live" on the ACT website.  We have capacity for 440 students (40 of which are "extended time" seats), and no spots will be filled until we are listed on the ACT website.  In other words, all seats are still available as of this moment.  However, once the test center officially opens, it's first-come, first-served.

3/22/2020:

ACT:  I am still waiting to hear back from the ACT regarding Strake Jesuit's status as a test center for the June 13 exam.  I emailed ACT again on Friday 3/20, begging them for an update.  I still fully expect that we will be a test center for the June exam.  I will let everyone know as soon as I know more.

SAT: There are still plenty of spots available for the June 6 SAT at Jesuit, but I highly recommend that students register sooner rather than later.  We will fill up quickly.

3/17/2020:

For those students who were registered for the April 4 exam, you will be receiving (beginning this morning) an email from ACT with instructions on how to register for the next ACT, which is scheduled for June 13.

Strake Jesuit does not normally offer the June ACT, but of course these are not normal times, and yesterday morning when news of the April cancellation came out, I immediately emailed ACT to let them know that our test center is ready and willing to offer the June 13 exam.

I have heard from several parents this morning whose sons have received the email from ACT regarding the April cancellation and instructions to register for the June 13 exam.  However, Strake Jesuit apparently is not listed as an available test center for the June 13 exam.

I just now got off the phone with an ACT representative, who assures me that my email has been "escalated," and that we should soon be approved as a test center for the June exam.

So my advice for now is to wait for a day or two and allow the ACT time to add Strake Jesuit to the list of available test centers for the June 13 exam.

As soon as I have any updates, I'll be sure to pass those along.

Regards,

~ Dr. Clinton

3/16/2020:

The College Board just announced that they have cancelled the March 28 make-up date and the May 2 exam.  Here is the announcement:

In response to the rapidly evolving situation around the coronavirus (COVID-19), College Board is canceling the May 2, 2020 SAT administration. Makeup exams for the March 14 administration (scheduled for March 28) are also canceled.  Students who already registered for May, whose March test centers were closed, or who do not receive March scores because of any irregularities will receive refund.  In the coming days, College Board will share additional information and details directly with registered students and test centers.

Strake Jesuit was not scheduled to serve as a test center for either of these exams, but I know that many of you were signed up to take them elsewhere.  For the moment, the next SAT national test date is scheduled for June 6.  Jesuit IS a test center for that exam.  I highly recommend that you register ASAP, as we will undoubtedly fill up quickly.
