Jesuit Sends 5 Wrestlers to the Region 3-6A Tournament

In a delayed start due to the weather, the Strake Jesuit Varsity Wrestling team competed in the UIL Boys District 9-6A Tournament Friday where the team placed 5th overall with 148 points, only 5 points behind 4th place Morton Ranch. Out of the full lineup of 14 Varsity Wrestlers, 5 placed 4th or higher and earned themselves a spot at the Region 3-6A Tournament next weekend. In his first year as a wrestler, Junior Chico Holt placed first in the 220lb weight class in front of the entire arena as the final match of the night. Sophomore Jackson Ham (1st 106lb) and Seniors Colin Moore (3rd 145), John Gabbanelli (2nd 170lb), and Kent Stovall (2nd 182) will all join Holt next weekend. Juan Guio(120), Sean Miller(126), Andrew Faraca(132), and Andy Haggerty(195) will all serve as alternates for their respective weight classes should any placers drop out of the Regional Tournament.
