Mr. John Mooz

John is a Senior Managing Director and leads Hines’ Houston office. As the Houston city head, he is responsible for the development and financing of  projects within the city and across the U.S. Sunbelt market. Since joining Hines in 1990, John has contributed to the development, acquisition, and financing of more than 23 million square feet of property across office, multifamily, mixed-use, senior living, life science, sports entertainment, and medical product types, totaling over $10 billion.
 
John’s responsibilities have included leading several signature developments, including 24th@Camelback, 717 Texas, 811 Main, Levit Green Life Science, Clearwater at Heights Senior Living, MorningStar at River Oaks Senior Living, 609 Main, and the firm’s world headquarters at Texas Tower, among others. John has additionally led several recapitalization and repositioning efforts, including J.P Morgan Chase Tower, Bank of America Center, and 919 Milam. He is also responsible for leading multiple significant 3rd Party Development Management assignments, including the Hilcorp Headquarters, Methodist Sugarland and Willow brook hospitals, Kinder Morgan Tower, Shell Energy Wood Creek Campus, Shell West Hollow Technology Center, and represented the Houston Rockets in the development of Toyota Center. John is currently leading the development of the Phase I mixed-use Convention Center District for Houston First, scheduled for a Q2 2028 completion.  
 
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Houston Bauer College of Business Graduate Real Estate Program, Uptown Houston District, Strake Jesuit Foundation, Central Houston, Greater Houston Partnership and Cristo Rey Jesuit Collage Preparatory School. 
 
John earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Connecticut.
