John Barry ’28 Receives the Captain Andrew R. Houghton ’97 Award
On January 27, 2026, John Barry ’28 received the Captain Andrew R. Houghton ’97 Award. The Houghton Award was created in 2010 in memory of Capt. Andrew Houghton ’97, who passed away on August 9, 2004, from injuries sustained on July 10, 2004, while serving in Iraq.
This award is presented to a Strake Jesuit sophomore who best exhibits the characteristics and values that Andy Houghton exemplified. Those include academic excellence, service to friends and the community at Strake Jesuit and beyond, an enthusiasm for life, and a determination to succeed.
Previous award recipients Kyle Garvis ’24, John Hebert ’26, and Cam Brown ’27 were also in attendance.
