The Strake Jesuit Wrestling team traveled back to the Merrell Center Friday morning to compete in the Region 3-6A tournament. Jesuit sent eight wrestlers, five placers and three alternates, to the regional tournament to wrestle for a spot to go to the State Championships. Jackson Ham, Colin Moore, John Gabbanelli, Kent Stovall, and Chico Holt all comprised of the automatic placers from the District Tournament from the previous week while Senior Juan Guio was entered into the draw due to a drop out in the 120 lb weight class.

Out of the six wrestlers who competed for the green and white, five of them will continue on into the second day of the Tournament. Seniors John Gabbanelli and Kent Stovall as well as Junior Chico Holt won both of their first two matches in the morning session which automatically sends them to the semifinals on day 2. Senior Colin Moore and Sophomore Jackson Ham wrestled back during the afternoon session to qualify for the second day of the tournament placing them in the consolation semifinals. Senior Juan Guio fell short in his afternoon match going one and two for the day earning a big pin in his second match to help gain valuable team points.
