Strake Jesuit Acquires Adjacent Property

We are proud to announce that Strake Jesuit College Preparatory has purchased the 8-acre parcel of land contiguous to its campus's north border. The acquisition, finalized September 10, 2026, will support new extracurricular space for students. 

 

This is not the first time Strake Jesuit has grown its campus. In 2012, the school repurchased a seven-acre tract, land that it had previously surrendered after being forced into bankruptcy as a result of the 1970 Sharpstown bank-fraud scandal. Today those acres are home to Novelli and Restrepo Fields, as well as the Lily Fieldhouse and Golf Learning Center. This latest acquisition continues to restore our campus to the way it was originally intended.

 

The timing of this purchase reflects a simple reality: Strake Jesuit's enrollment has increased 60% since 2012. The 2021 construction of Loyola Hall, while a tremendous addition to the school's academic life, also reduced usable space for other aspects of campus life. For a school that believes our campus is our curriculum, that matters. Jesuit education has never been just about what happens in the classroom. It takes a lot of space to educate a boy; room to compete, to build, to fail and try again, to grow, are essential to what we do. This acquisition ensures that our space keeps pace with the young men we serve.

This land is foundational to how Strake Jesuit will grow for decades to come. The parcel is an integral part of the school's long-term strategic plan for developing our campus, now and well into the future. In the near term, it will provide much-needed parking and practice fields for students and families. The specific long-term plans are not yet set in stone, though they have been imagined. One thing is certain: owning this property will unlock many possibilities for future developments to our campus.
